Abstract

Working in abstract is a freeing experience, tinged with the attempt to create a harmonious image. I try to create a sense of balance in terms of shape and colour.

I use shapes from the natural world and repeating motifs from everyday life. Explorations of materials,  line and the way colours can combine, to work together or contrast each other.

Thread and paint bring very different qualities to a piece, introducing new layers or levels and I am constantly working on  how they can can be used to compliment each other.
